Soorty Enterprises has been selected by the Organic Cotton Accelerator (OCA) to participate in the Seed Multiplication Project – marking a first for Pakistan. This initiative, supported by SAWIE and implemented under OCA guidelines, focuses on the purification and multiplication of non-GMO, region-specific organic cotton seeds.

The project addresses a long-standing challenge in organic cotton farming: the lack of access to high-quality, locally adapted organic seeds. By developing a reliable seed supply suited to Pakistan’s climate and soil, the initiative lays the groundwork for improved productivity, greater certification opportunities, and reduced reliance on imports. It also supports a more transparent and sustainable value chain, strengthening farmer resilience and promoting environmentally responsible agricultural practices.

Soorty’s Collagen Denim introduces a new dimension to denim innovation by integrating Umorfil® Technology – a fiber enriched with collagen peptides derived from upcycled fish scales, a byproduct of the seafood industry. Known for their moisturizing and soothing properties, these peptides bring skin-friendly benefits to the fabric, making it especially suitable for sensitive skin. The result is a denim that combines enhanced softness, breathability, and shape retention, offering a refined wearing experience without compromising on performance.

Soorty Enterprises has reached a new milestone in its clean energy transition with the installation of a 4.8 MW windmill at Unit 13. This development reflects our continued investment in renewable energy solutions that reduce emissions and enhance energy efficiency.

The on-site windmill will contribute directly to powering operations at Unit 13, reducing dependence on fossil fuels and lowering our carbon footprint. Teams across the organization marked the installation as a step forward in aligning operational performance with environmental responsibility. As we move ahead, Soorty remains focused on scaling practical, technology-driven solutions for cleaner production.

Soorty Enterprises continues its mangrove plantation efforts as part of its ongoing commitment to environmental restoration and climate resilience. Conducted regularly with participation from teams across the organization, these activities support coastal ecosystems and contribute to long-term carbon sequestration.

Mangroves play a vital role in protecting coastlines from erosion, supporting biodiversity, and acting as highly effective carbon sinks- absorbing significantly more CO₂ than many other types of forests. By investing in mangrove restoration, Soorty is contributing to healthier marine environments and more resilient communities in coastal regions of Pakistan.

Soorty recently conducted Worker Management Council (WMC) elections at Unit 08, reinforcing our commitment to worker representation and inclusive decision-making. Through a transparent nomination and balloting process, employees elected both male and female representatives to serve as a bridge between the workforce and management.

These in-house councils play a key role in facilitating open communication, addressing workplace concerns, and promoting a culture of accountability. By formalizing channels for dialogue, the WMC helps ensure that worker voices are heard and integrated into ongoing efforts to improve workplace conditions and operational outcomes.

Soorty Enterprises Denim Unit 08 has achieved ISO 14064-1:2018 certification for carbon management, covering Scope 1, 2, and 3 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. This milestone builds on the company’s earlier validation under the Science Based Targets initiative and reflects continued progress in tracking and managing emissions in alignment with international standards.

The certification process involved a detailed assessment of operations, rigorous data collection, and the implementation of structured systems to monitor, report, and reduce GHG emissions. A recognition event was held at Unit 08 to acknowledge the cross-functional efforts involved. Work continues toward ambitious emissions targets, supported by technology, systems improvements, and industry collaboration.

The Parwaaz project began as an in-house initiative at Soorty to train and employ Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) through targeted skill development and workplace integration in collaboration with NOWPDP. Its success led to recognition by international customer INDITEX, who joined as an implementation partner and integrated the project into its broader supply chain practices.

Together with INDITEX, the project now addresses systemic barriers to employment by combining hands-on training in specific trades with employer sensitization and inclusive workplace adaptation. This collaboration demonstrates the viability of structured, scalable models for disability inclusion within the textile sector and reinforces Soorty’s role in advancing equitable employment across the industry.

Soorty. recently hosted a hands-on Design Thinking workshop for its Executive Leadership Team (ELT), aimed at equipping senior leaders with structured tools for problem-solving and innovation. The session introduced practical techniques to identify root causes, define problem statements, and explore actionable, user-centered solutions.

Participants were divided into teams and worked through real-world challenges using a step-by-step methodology. The workshop emphasized collaboration, critical thinking, and creative evaluation, helping leaders apply design thinking principles within their operational and strategic contexts. This learning intervention supports Soorty’s focus on enhancing leadership capabilities through practical, forward-looking approaches.

Dr. Yousaf Ali, Head of Agri Ventures and Traceability at Soorty presented Soorty’s Sustainable Agriculture Program at the Cotton Sustainability Insetting Knowledge Exchange, held at the Fashion and Textile Museum in London.

Organized by Pilio and SAMA^Verte, the event brought together experts from organizations including WWF-Pakistan, Better Cotton, and IPI to discuss how insetting strategies can support climate resilience, biodiversity, and social impact within the cotton value chain. Soorty’s presentation highlighted its integrated approach to regenerative agriculture, traceability, and farmer engagement in Pakistan’s cotton-growing regions.
