Soorty Enterprises has unveiled its latest collection, Denim Reflections, at the Kingpins Show on April 16–17. The collection explores new material narratives and design approaches – from responsible cotton sourcing and origami-inspired constructions to wellness-focused finishes such as peppermint and the use of traceable, recycled content.

The Global Disability Summit (GDS) is a leading international platform convening governments, civil society, and private sector actors to advance disability rights and build more inclusive societies worldwide. In 2025, Soorty became the first Pakistani textile manufacturer to participate in the Summit, supported by GIZ Pakistan – an acknowledgment of our efforts to embed inclusion within the fabric of our operations.

At the Summit, Soorty presented Nurah, a storytelling and design initiative by The Soorty Foundation that encourages dialogue around neurodiversity, alongside PRISM, our internal framework for inclusive hiring and workplace practices. Together, these initiatives represent our approach to disability inclusion rooted in empathy, co-creation, and sustained systemic engagement. Conversations and insights from the Summit are already informing how we strengthen and evolve our practices to foster a more inclusive culture from the inside out.

To mark World Water Day 2025, Soorty hosted an awareness session bringing together voices from academia, government, industry, and the next generation of changemakers. The event focused on the critical role of water in sustainable development and the need for shared responsibility in addressing water-related challenges.

Dr. Waqar Ahmed from the University of Karachi spoke on the role of mangroves and coastal ecosystems in enhancing climate resilience and conserving water resources. Muhammad Imran Sabir, Director of SEPA, stressed the importance of environmental policy in sustainable water governance. Soorty’s sustainability team highlighted the role industries must play in managing water responsibly across their operations. The session also featured student-led projects from the Textile Institute of Pakistan, showcasing creative solutions around water scarcity, glacier preservation, and climate change.

Soorty Enterprises marked International Women’s Day 2025 with a group-wide celebration across its units, highlighting the contributions of women in all roles and departments. The day included interactive sessions, open discussions, and recognition activities aimed at creating space for reflection and shared dialogue among employees.

Events across locations were designed to engage teams in conversations around workplace equity, representation, and the everyday experiences of women at work. By bringing people together across the organization, the initiative helped surface ideas, challenges, and opportunities for further progress.

ROAM is Soorty’s latest collection developed in collaboration with Rudolf, a global leader in sustainable chemical solutions for textiles. Designed for outdoor lifestyles, ROAM brings together advanced performance features with design cues drawn from nature, offering garments that support freedom of movement, adaptability, and everyday function.

Rooted in the principles of biomimicry, the collection features water-repellent finishes inspired by the lotus leaf, as well as antimicrobial and moisture-wicking technologies. These responsible chemical applications enhance the performance of purpose-built fabrics while aligning with environmental considerations. ROAM is a step toward rethinking how garments can perform, designed with both the user and the planet in mind.

Soorty Enterprises was honored in the Diamond category at the 2nd Disability Inclusion Recognition Award, hosted by the Employers’ Federation of Pakistan. The recognition highlights Soorty’s sustained efforts to create equitable employment opportunities for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) within Pakistan’s textile sector.

Disability inclusion at Soorty is embedded across multiple programs, rather than driven by one-off initiatives. From the PRISM project that strategically places hearing-impaired individuals in high-noise work environments to the Nurah initiative, which supports craftsmanship through inclusive design, our approach focuses on enabling meaningful participation. As the lead of the Karachi cluster in the GIZ Pakistan Community of Practice, we are also working with industry peers to strengthen inclusive workplace policies. This recognition reflects ongoing work toward building accessible, skills-driven employment pathways for all.

Soorty recently hosted representatives from Better Cotton to align on shared goals for promoting responsible cotton farming practices in Pakistan. Discussions during the visit addressed ongoing challenges in the sector, potential mitigation strategies, and the broader environmental and social impact of sustainable cotton production.

The visit included a tour of the Soorty Sustainable Cotton Research Hub (SSCRH), where the team explored ongoing work in organic and regenerative agriculture. Key initiatives such as the NON-GM cotton seed bank, research into climate-resilient practices, and the use of digital tools for smarter farming were highlighted. Collaborations like these are critical to scaling regenerative approaches and supporting cotton-growing communities in becoming more resilient and future-ready.

Access to skill-building opportunities is essential for achieving greater equity in the workplace. Through the Life Skills Advancement Intervention, Soorty is supporting the development of over 2,000 garment workers by providing training in areas such as communication, decision-making, stress management, and financial literacy.

As part of this effort, the first phase of a focus group discussion was recently held with women workers at Unit 14. These sessions created space for open dialogue around career growth, workplace challenges, and leadership pathways. Insights gathered will guide the development of tailored training modules that address the lived experiences of our workforce. The initiative is aligned with SDG 5 (Gender Equality) and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), reinforcing Soorty’s commitment to inclusive professional development.

Soorty Enterprises recently hosted the Best Performance Ceremony at Units 5-6 to acknowledge the efforts of sewing and finishing teams that achieved top production results. The event focused on highlighting line-level achievements and the role of skilled labor in driving quality across operations.

Prizes were awarded to the best-performing teams, and a special performance added to the occasion. Recognizing workplace contributions through such forums reinforces a culture of appreciation and accountability, reflecting the importance placed on both operational performance and worker engagement.

Soorty Enterprises, in partnership with long-standing collaborator DOCH has successfully concluded Phase 2 of the SOCI Women Empowerment & Entrepreneurship Initiative in Naal, Balochistan. This program aims to support women in under-served communities by providing access to skill-building opportunities that are culturally relevant and economically viable.

During Phase 2, participants engaged in structured training that enabled them to develop marketable skills, often for the first time. Many graduates have since launched small home-based businesses and begun generating income, contributing to both household resilience and local economies. The strong response from the community and early registrations for the next cycle point to the relevance and growing impact of the initiative. As Phase 2 closes, the focus remains on enabling women to navigate barriers and access meaningful, long-term opportunities for economic participation.
